Background
Madagascar is an island that dwells in the western Indian Ocean. Madagascar sits about 266 miles off the east coast of Southern Africa. After the islands Greenland, New Guinea and Borneo, Madagascar is the fourth largest island in the world. There is nowhere else on this earth where you can find most of Madagascars mammels, plants, and half of its birds, due to its seclusion. After the French left the country, Madagascar was able to vote for their freedom to be self-governed. Then on June 26, 1960 they were officially an independnt country with Philibert Tsiranana as their president.
